A professional writer who is also professional engineer can bridge the communication gap in your marketing materials.

Below are some questions clients routinely ask me about my services and work process.  Your questions are always welcome, so feel free to contact me about your project and how I can assist you in your goals.

I have engineers on staff who designed my product.  Why should I hire you to write about it?

Your engineer’s time is valuable. I can evaluate your available material and then, as an engineer, ask the targeted questions that a consulting engineer or client would ask. I won’t waste their time getting up to speed. And best of all, it frees up your engineers to do what they do best - focus on design.
Most engineers are not trained to write. I am trained to do both, design and write. So I can take what your engineers have put in the design, and put it into words. The materials I write will be technically accurate and persuasive -- educating your clients so they feel confident specing your product.

My plant is in Oregon (or Europe, or...) and you are in South Carolina.  How do we work together?

Electronic media is perfect for marketing and communications.  We can exchange all the information I will need to work on your project via email, FTP sites or by phone.   Through email and phone, you will always be able to reach me. And we can set up times to review your project, at your convenience, during your business hours.

The consulting engineers frequently write case studies and white papers on projects.  Why should I hire you?

Yes, consulting engineers do write case studies and white papers - I wrote several myself while working in that segment of the industry. But ask yourself, are they really focused on YOUR product?

Let's face it, consultants are in business to promote their business. To get permission to write as unbillable hours, they have to justify it as marketing for their consulting business.

How do you determine your fees?

I work on fixed-fee basis, determined after clearly defining the scope of your project.  That way you know the budget up front and what you will receive from me as your final product.  No surprises.

The actual fee is based on several factors, including what type of product or service you are providing, the type of project (case study, white paper, product sheet, etc.), how much information you can provide and how much research I will need to do.  It's also based on   whether we are starting from scratch or updating existing materials, etc.

All this will be determined as we discuss your project. It will be spelled out in the project fee agreement that I provide before we get started.

What if I want revisions?

No problem.  My standard fee agreement includes two rounds of revisions based on your feedback.

You will have 30 calendar days from the date you receive the copy to request these revisions, which will give you time to review my work.  Also please note this includes only  revisions of the written material - changes of scope, format or project type, which will all be clearly spelled out in the fee agreement, will be considered extra.
